Visiting this beautiful peninsula is a real treat. We enjoy an extended break in Port Sunlight, home to more than 900 listed buildings, set in 130 acres of Parkland and gardens. We enjoy a lunchtime visit to Birkenhead, where Bikenhead Priory encapsulates so much of the towns history. Birkenhaed Park is another iconic landmark. It was the worlds first public park and is said to have influenced the design of New Yorks Central Park, with its two lakes and many listed buildings. The town also has an art gallery, excellent shopping centre with over 150 stores, Wirral transport Museum and the U Boat Story to explore. We end the day in New Brighton, where the River Mersey meets the Irish Sea. Now regenerated, it boasts a unique mix of old and New Brighton, where the River Mersey meets the Irish Sea. Now regenarated, it boasts a unique of old, new, with its 19th century Garade II listed former sea defence and lighthouse and new retail and leisure development, Marine Point. There is also a beach and traditional seaside amusements.
