Stockbridge, the Test Valley & Mottisfont Abbey  Roses         Friday 7th June

Ancient trees, bubbling brooks and rolling lawns frame the romantic 18th century house, Mottisfont Abbey. Crafted from the medieval priory and brimming with creativity and fascinating history, Mottisfont is also home to the National Collection of pre 1900 old fashioned roses, which reach walled gardens are filled with heavenly fragrance and colour from thousands of roses, which reach their pack in June. We call for a break in Stockbridge after our visit, in the heart of the Test Valley. The River Test flows under the high street and there is an abundance specialist shops and tea rooms.
