Highclere Castle 'The Home of Downton Abbey' Day Excursion

Location for TV’s hit drama Downton Abbey, and home to the Caernarvon Family since 1679, the original house was recorded in the Domesday Book, and the present day castle was designed in 1842 by sir Charles Barry, the architect also responsible for the Houses of Parliament. It is one of England’s most beautiful Victorian castles, set amidst 1000 acres of spectacular parkland. The castles history also includes a fascinating connection with ancient Egypt and houses a commemorative exhibition.
